After setting the scene alight with numerous killer singles, Israeli producer Guy J released his hotly anticipated full-length artist album 'Esperanza' on Bedrock Records near the end of 2008, to universal critical praise. Earlier in 2009 he returned to Bedrock with yet another killer single, 'Lamur', which again wowed the critics. Now he returns with another stunning production entitled 'Ballroom', which also features some stellar remixes by Ed Davenport & Sian.
2009 was a massive year for Steve Angello as he wraps it up with the release of 'The Yearbook' LP. It features ten massive hits which bring together all the best moments of Steve's life on the road this past year. The album is a collection of tracks which showcase his wide production range, from vocal house to elements of trance right down to tougher techno. Big kicks, sharp horns, epic synth lines and spine tingling vocals are what you will hear on 'The Yearbook'.
Prok & Fitch are hot property right now with recent releases & remixes on Strictly Rhythm, Cr2, Stealth, Axtone, their own label Floorplay, and now with their debut Toolroom release 'Freakshow EP'. Lead Track 'Freakshow' is a rocking, twisted yet funky slice of bass driven house that plots to wreak havoc on any dance floor. 2nd track 'Rightdown' is another defining production for the guys, a slightly more uplifting affair filled with arpeggiated synths, percussive rolls and a catchy vocal stab.
Alfie Granger-Howell and Nick Harriman aka Solarity has sprung to the top over the past 12 months. Their trademark productions have caused a sensation worldwide, gaining dance floor and radio play from some of the world's biggest DJs. Now they're back with possibly their biggest release to date on the on fire UK label, Enhanced Progressive. Built around a huge, big room lead this is quite brilliant progressive house that has caused serious damage on the dance floors over the previous months.
Flying solo away from the shadow of Peace Division, the raw and edgy Justin Drake drops his first EP on Tsuba. The four solid house cuts touching the corners of Justin's production style includes a remix from gangster DJ Sneak. The tracks are supported by 2000 And One, Ekkohaus, Joris Voorn, Simon Baker along with a strong list of our favorite DJs.
While many of Audion's 2009 singles showcase a newfound obsession with restraint, understatement, and barely-there dynamics, 'Push' runs in the exact opposite direction and never looks back. 'Push' traffics in unapologetic builds with precision to make them go crazy on the dance floor. It relentlessly churns rhythms, featuring buoyant blips of a keyboard, room-swallowing low-end swells, and wave after wave of ecstatic climax. Sometimes, a great track is as simple as that.
Sebo K's love for Chicago house and Detroit techno is eminent in his productions. His talent is exposed as he seamlessly combines the two distinct styles. 'Spirits' exemplifies how the quality over quantity approach can quickly secure a position at the top of the electronic food chain.
Christian Smith's 'Air Miles' is his collaboration with Reset Robot who has been classed as one of the hottest dubbed out tech-house producers on the planet right now. 'Air Miles' will elevate the dance floor energy to another level with its tribal thumbing, deep & dubby, rolling tech-house rhythms. It's a roller coaster of percussion, white noise samples bolstered by a pumping kick. Dutch Masters 2000 and One and DJ Madskillz provide the remix on the flip, further making this a must have release.
